NEW RESPIRONICS HEADQUARTERS LAUNCHED AT CHICHESTER BUSINESS PARK

The Chichester Business Park Partnership have officially launched the latest building designed and built for medical company Respironics. The ribbon was cut by Jim Moylan, the Projects Director for Respironics at a reception attended by over 100 guests from the business community with visitors coming from far and wide on the 10th November.
The 85,000 sq ft building has been designed as the new UK headquarters for Respironics, formerly Profile Therapeutics, a world leading developer and supplier of inhaled drug delivery systems. The building is divided into just over 60,000 sq ft of production, laboratories, clean rooms and warehouse, together with a high quality 25,000 sq ft office building.
Barry Sampson, Director of The Chichester Business Park Partnership said; “This is the largest building and new employer to Chichester District since the new Rolls Royce plant at nearby Goodwood. We are delighted that we have been able to meet Respironics’ aspirations for a bespoke new building”. Barry went on to express a personal affinity with the tenant company’s products, his children as asthma sufferers having relied upon them in their early years.
Jim Moylan thanked the Chichester Business Park Partnership its team and the support he had enjoyed from local economic agencies and all the local authorities involved.
David Geering, Project Manager for the Partnership said; “The planning permission for this building was far from straightforward as a substantial part of the site was green belt. Nevertheless, with the support of Chichester District Council and the quality of design from our architects, Harrington Design, consent was obtained in 15 weeks”.
David continues: “The design team and contractors worked extremely hard on the project and we are very grateful to them. The team moved over 2,300 lorries of earth, erected 4,600 separate steelwork items, laid 416 lorries worth of concrete, installed in excess of 3 miles of cable with 1000 light fittings; all in 40 weeks”.
The Chichester Business Park still has over 10 acres with the benefit of planning permission and is capable of providing a range of office and production buildings with or without expansion land.
Jeremy Maltby, on behalf of Letting Agents Tod Miller Thomas, added; “The Park has detailed consent for two more office developments – Hunter Court will be a 25,000 sq ft self-contained top specification, air conditioned office building. Meteor Court will comprise three buildings totalling 31,000 available in suites from 3,100 sq ft. to 6,200 sq ft. We are talking to a number of potential occupiers with a view to starting work on the next phase”.
