Lynda Bellingham, Patricia Hodge, Brigit Forsyth, Elaine C Smith and Gaynor Faye have all been confirmed to appear in Chichester Festival Theatre’s production of Calendar Girls in September.
Patricia Hodge plays Annie in Tim Firth’s brand new adaptation of the Miramax film Calendar Girls. After losing her husband to leukaemia, she and close friend and fellow WI member Chris (Lynda Bellingham) resolve to raise money for the local hospital.
A hit film in 2003, the story is based upon true-life events. Calendar Girls follows the fortunes of a group of extraordinary women, all members of a very ordinary Yorkshire Women’s Institute who persuade each other to pose for a charity calendar with a difference.
Patricia Hodge’s theatre credits include The Country Wife and Boeing–Boeing in the West End and His Dark Materials at the National Theatre. Her television credits include Portia in TV’s Rumpole of the Bailey.
Lynda Bellingham’s theatre credits include Vincent River at the Old Vic, Sugar Mummies at the Royal Court and Losing Louis at the Hampstead Theatre. Bellingham is well known to television audiences for playing Helen Herriott in All Creatures Great and Small and as the mother in the OXO advertisements.
Elaine C. Smith plays Cora or Miss October. Her theatre credits include Jim Cartwright’s The Rise and Fall of Little Voice and Two and she appeared in a national tour of The Woman who Cooked her HusbandShe is one of Scotland’s best loved actresses and comedy entertainers, becoming a household name in hit TV series Rab C. Nesbitt
Brigit Forsyth plays Marie, President of the Women’s Institute. Her theatre credits include The Triumph of Love. at The Royal Exchange Theatre, Arsenic and Old Lace. on a national tour and Jerusalem. at the West Yorkshire Playhouse. Her long and varied career includes playing Francine Pratt in Playing the Field, as well as playing Thelma in Whatever Happened to The Likely Lads.
Gaynor Faye plays Celia (Miss November). Her television credits include The Chase., Playing the Field. and Coronation Street.
